Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Schultz and the staff at Prineville Veterinary Clinic, treat your pets like the valued family members they are.

We have a veterinarian and personnel on call 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and one technician working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such a D-con poisoning, hit by a car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment, do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency. In the event we are unavailable for an emergency we will provide you with phone numbers of other veterinarians that will assist you.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

MEET OUR TEAM

Dr. Rhet Schultz DVM

The most wonderful aspect of being a Veterinarian is that no day is ever the same. Each workday I experience different clients, patients, and situations. Along with working alongside a dedicated and loyal staff, this variety is why I look forward to going to work. My staff and I will always strive to provide superior patient care by utilizing advanced techniques and technology to keep our companions happy and healthy.

Dr. John Carr DVM

Dr. John Carr has practiced veterinary medicine since graduation in 1980 from Murdoch University in Western Australia. His professional experience includes a residency in Equine Reproduction at the University of California at Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, and work in equine exclusive, small animal, and mixed animal practice in both the United States and Australia.

Dr. Carr’s personal interests include hiking, hunting and fishing, and tennis. Much of his time is spent pottering around his small ranch with wife Cathleen, daughters Caitlin and Marie, and their menagerie of pets and farm animals.

Julie Thompson - Practice Manager

I have been with Prineville Veterinary Clinic for 7 years. I started as a receptionist and am now in the position of Practice Manager. I really enjoy my job, I feel we employ the best staff members to keep your pets healthy and safe. All of our staff members truly care about and love all animals. I have always had a passion for animals and have several of my own. It is my goal to always give the best service to our clients and make sure that their pets are cared for with the best treatments and preventative care available.

Amber Blasdell - Certified Veterinary Technician

I have been a licensed veterinary technician since May 2012 and joined the amazing team at Prineville Veterinary Clinic in May 2013. I have grown up on ranches in and around Prineville most of my life. The animals that I was fortunate enough to grow up around and the experiences that my family has given me, have always played an important role in my career choice. For that I am very grateful. My hobbies include riding horses, working cattle dogs, and hanging out with friends and family. My current crew of furry four legged critters includes 1 tall lanky quarter horse (Skip), 2 red and white border collies (Ava and Sam), and 2 very loving kitties (Jack & Cali). I thoroughly enjoy so many things that Prineville Veterinary Clinic has to offer, but deep down, the continuing advances in technology and animal dentistry stand out the most. We strive as a team to provide the best care for all the furry friends in our lives.

Cheyanne Waetjen - Veterinary Assistant

I was born and raised in Prineville, where animals have always found a way to be a large part of my lifestyle. I enjoy spending time with my husband and family. We have two great dogs, one witty paint horse, and a kitten that will keep you laughing. A few of my favorite activities are riding horses and snowmobiling. I was blessed with the opportunity to grow up within Prineville Veterinary Clinic. I value the leading edge technology and medicine we provide. We strive to continue learning and growing with veterinary medicine; while still maintaining a small town veterinarian atmosphere.

Ellie Gage - Veterinary Assistant

I grew up in Corvallis Oregon on a small farm where I competed in 4-H at the county and state level with my horses, pigs, sheep and dairy goats. That experience ignited an interest in science and medicine that has continued to grow. I graduated cum laude from OSU-Cascades with a bachelor’s in Biology and was fortunate to have the opportunity to join the top-notch team at Prineville Vet Clinic. My favorite part of my job is building relationships with clients and patients and client education. My husband and I live in Powell Butte with our horses and dogs and when I’m not working you can find me riding my colt and taking my dogs on outdoor adventures.

Adria Schmitt - Receptionist

I am blessed to be a part of our knowledgeable, caring team of professionals here at Prineville Veterinary clinic. Each day I enjoy the opportunity to meet wonderful people from our community as well as the fuzzy companions they cherish. I love the ever changing atmosphere of the veterinary clinic and the opportunity to constantly learn new things about wellness care and medicine.

My pets and livestock have always been a very large part of my life. I live on a beautiful ranch just outside of Prineville with my family, our horses, dogs and cats. I enjoy barrel racing, doing bead work, leather crafts and re purposing furniture.

Jade Wolfe - Receptionist

I was born and raised in Wenatchee Washington. Growing up my family was very active in rodeo and downhill ski racing. In my free time I enjoy riding my two horses and going to barrel races.

Animals have always had a special place in my heart. I couldn’t imagine life without them. I’m blessed to have a job where daily I get to interact with all sorts of animals, meet and get to know clients and learn from knowledgeable staff.
